The Congress also passed a $300 billion dollar Farm Bill, which funded $200 billion worth of “domestic nutrition programs, aka food stamps, over ten years.
Meanwhile, Americans donated over $300 billion to charity. In one year.
The left, aka the socialists, continue to clamor for government run health care. The Canadians have have a program like this, which Michael Moore touted in his crockumentary “Sicko.” The architect of that program recently said it is a failure. Unaffected by the facts in Canada, and a worse situation in Great Britain, the liberals demand equality in heath care, i.e. equally poor treatment for everyone.
Both candidates for president this election are calling for a cap and trade plan, which is nothing less than socialism in action. The whole system depends on taxing the most industrious, most successful organizations and turning the money over to companies that are not as big. McCain and Obama both feel this income redistribution is a good solution for the climate crisis, leading one to believe that they would not hesitate to join the Kyoto Protocol."

A Human Right, A Civil Right, it is a Right.
A free person makes these decisions, is self reliant, accountable and willing to do what it takes to remain free.
That is where the problem lies. To many now look to the Government and it is not their fault, the Government has become this over regulating, taxation driven monstrosity that wants us to rely on them for everything. They claim they can give us all we need!
Rights must be fought for and defended. The Government and your elected politicians must be held accountable and taken to task for what they do. If we continue down this road of electing those that tell us all the great things they will do for us we are dumber then dumb and deserve what we get. How many taxes can we pay? Why do we not demand that the Government be accountable for what they spend and do?

Political Humor.
A biker is riding by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning
into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the
cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter
her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion
square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event.
The reporter addressing the biker says, 'Sir, this was the
most gallant and brave
thing I saw a man do in my whole life.'

biker replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was
behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and
acted as I felt right.'
The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed.
I'm a journalist from the New York Times, you know,
and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page...
So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?''
The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.'
The journalist leaves.

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up

2007 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge
them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.
Scenario: Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal.
Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2007 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. Tested for
ADD. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a disability.
Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him
a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows u p normal, goes to college,
and becomes a successful businessman.
2007 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster
care
and joins a gang. State psychologist tells Billy's sister that she
remembers
being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair
with psychologist.
Scenario: Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares aspirin with Principal out on the smoking dock.
2007 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car
searched for drugs and weapons.
Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.
1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.
2007 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear
nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation
is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and
Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given
diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak
English.
Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from 4th of July, puts
them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.
1957 - Ants die.
2007 - BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic
terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers
confiscated, Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed
to fly again.
Scenario: Johnny falls while running at recess and scrapes his knee. He is
found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2007 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She
faces 3 years in state prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

With gas prices topping $4.00 per gallon across the country, the time for debate has come to an end. While Congress should encourage businesses to continue the development of alternative sources of energy, a more immediate solution is essential to ease the pain at the pump until an economically viable alternative source of energy can be produced.
The most common-sense solution in the short term is to increase domestic oil production in the United States by allowing more exploration and drilling. Currently, there is a congressional moratorium on drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) that has been in place for 27 years. This moratorium translates into roughly 85% of the OCS that Congress has declared off-limits for oil exploration and drilling. It simply does not make sense for the United States to allow its domestic oil resources to sit unused and depend on other nations in unstable regions of the world for its energy needs. If the moratorium is lifted, the vast off-shore reserves could be used to decrease America’s dependence on foreign oil and ultimately lower the high price of gasoline.
However, the “Pelosi Anti-Energy Package” would block any attempt to increase domestic oil production by preventing the opening of new areas for drilling, such as the OCS and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Instead, this proposal would institute a “use it or lose it” policy that would punish oil companies for not developing what are known as “non-producing” federal leases. Pelosi and other liberals in Congress justify this position by claiming that the oil companies are allowing the land to sit idle in order to drive up the cost of fuel. However, the truth is that oil companies have invested billions of dollars in exploration of these leases, and the so-called “non-producing” leases sit idle because they do not contain a commercially viable supply of petroleum. In other words, the liberals in Congress are trying to force energy companies to magically produce oil from dry rock while preventing them from drilling in areas where it has been proven that commercially viable reserves exist.
The Left also argues that rather than utilizing our domestic oil resources, energy companies should be producing an alternative source of energy to replace petroleum. Although alternative energy should be pursued, the simple fact is that a mainstream source of alternative energy currently does not exist, and probably will not for several years. In the meantime, the only economically viable solution to the energy crisis is to drill where it makes sense - in the areas of the OCS that we know contain valuable oil reserves and in Alaska.
This week, the U.S. House of Representatives will be debating the Pelosi Anti-Energy Package, which should continue up to the July 4th recess. Please take a few minutes to contact your elected officials and ask them to lift the drilling moratorium and allow greater domestic oil production.

Washington, D.C. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today released its preliminary analysis of the House version of the Fiscal 2009 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations Act. There are 85 projects for a total of $110 million in this year’s House DHS bill. The top five porkers are Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) with $15 million; Harold “Hal” Rogers (R-Ky.) with $11 million; and Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.), John Culberson (R-Texas), and Peter King (R-N.Y.) with $6 million each.

Congress Scrambles to Fix Oil Speculation Loophole
"In a scramble to find a fix for energy prices, Congress has tried (and failed) to strip tax breaks from Big Oil, to open protected sites for exploration and drilling, and to jump-start a new era in nuclear power," reports The Christian Science Monitor. "Now, Capitol Hill is zeroing in on speculators and the legal loopholes that some lawmakers say are adding as much as $70 to the price of a barrel of oil."
In "Scapegoating the Speculators" Cato senior fellow Alan Reynolds writes:
"[As] much as politicians would like to blame speculators, it's just not so. For starters, there's nothing about futures or options that makes it any more attractive to bet that commodity prices will go up than to bet they'll go down. Guess wrong on the direction, and you lose money. ... There is no mystery behind the rise in oil prices. They rose too high too fast because of booming demand for oil for petrochemical products, electric power and shipping from many emerging economies (particularly China, India and the Middle East). Meanwhile, the supply of oil slipped in the U.S., Mexico, Venezuela, Nigeria and Russia. The urge to blame speculators is as big a waste of time as blaming oil companies. Americans want more oil and gas -- not more hot air from politicians."

A CNN/Opinion Research poll released Tuesday shows that 55% of those surveyed are more worried about long lines at gas stations and rationing than about the high prices that drivers have paid in recent months. The poll shows 40% of the respondents are more concerned about the high prices.
While gas rationing is not expected at this time, it was a hallmark of the 1970s-era energy crisis, when drivers lined up outside gas stations and sales of gas were limited to certain days of the week.
However, at that time, gas was in short supply, which is not the case today.

The pea brains in Congress and many of their cronies around the country have found the problem that, they feel, is causing us so much pain at the pump. First they tried to demonize the oil companies. But that did not work too well. After that witch hunt, those on Capitol Hill are getting inundated with requests, if not demands, to get off the backs of oil companies and open up areas placed arbitrarily off limits to exploration and production.
So enter the “new” reason why gas prices are so high. The “new” problem is now that people are investing and taking risks.
How dare people take risks! Don’t they know that they might fail? And if they fail, why government will have to pick them up at tax payer expense - or so the old canard goes.

The story here is about the protesters gearing up to protest at the Convention. Denver PD is preparing for this and have every right to do so to protect the law abiding citizens. Now the Constitution gives us the "Right", catch that the "Right", to peaceable assemble which means protesting in a non violent non destructive way. NOT this way. If they do so, then they should be considered terrorists and dealt with accordingly. If that means spraying every last one of the protesters with pepper spray so be it or as this picture shows, kicking their butt when appropriate. Followed by incarceration, so be it.
These protesters do nothing to contribute to society, live off the State or wealthy "liberal benefactors" and see anything that takes Government(taxpayers) dollars away from them or their "causes" as a threat. They see those that are successful from hard, honest, work as the enemy to their way of life. They feel they are entitled to a "share" of someone else's hard work and cannot understand those that think different. Success? Achievement? How many times they can get arrested is what they strive for!! What they can disrupt and draw attention to themselves and their "causes" is what they want.

Niccolo Machiavelli, who was a sort of Karl Rove of his day, though with more integrity, said of the Swiss that they were "the most free and most armed people" of Europe. Get it? The connection between arms and freedom?
That statement is still true of the Swiss. Many people know that they practice neutrality, but not many know that they practice armed neutrality. If the gun controllers' claim that the mere presence of arms leads to mayhem were true, the Swiss would have wiped themselves out years ago. There are guns and gun ranges all over the place. You would be hard-pressed to find a Swiss home without a firearm and ammunition. Yet, the Swiss have a very low crime rate.
If you were a robber or a rapist, who would you rather have as a victim? Someone who is armed, or someone who is defenseless? Even a stupid criminal knows the answer to that question.
If the police can protect us - which is another claim the gun-control people make - then why are so many people murdered, raped and robbed? Even the television fictional stories tell you the answer to that. The cops get there after the crime has been committed. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a crime scene. Nearly all the cop shows open with the police looking at a dead, unarmed body.
Do you really believe that the men who had just fought a long and bloody war against the British and were writing what we call the Bill of Rights had this conversation:
"Well, let's see. We've guaranteed freedom of assembly, of religion, of speech and of the press. Oh, my gosh, we've forgotten the duck hunters. They'll raise heck if we leave them out, so we'd better write an amendment for them."
The Second Amendment has nothing whatsoever to do with hunting. It states: "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
The men who wrote these amendments were pretty darn fluent in English. If they had intended the right to keep and bear arms to apply only to the militia, they would have said so. They would have written "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the states to arm their respective militias shall not be infringed."
They didn't say that. The main sentence says "right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." "People" means everybody, not just the members of the militia. The subordinate clause, "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state," just gives one, but not the only, reason why all the people have a right to keep and bear arms. The militia, after all, was drawn from the people. It was not the Army. The first meaning of "bear," by the way, is to carry, bring or take. Americans have the right to keep arms and to carry them.
The word "regulate" in those days meant trained, and do you notice again the connection between arms and freedom? The subordinate clause refers to a "free state." Obviously, an unfree state would not allow the people to be armed.
The Founding Fathers were not urban neurotics like so many of today's politicians. They were almost all outdoor people. Guns were to them just tools, like their axes or plows. You couldn't survive in the wilderness without firearms, and at the time of our Revolution, there were only about 3 million people from Maine to Georgia.
Nor were there any police forces. There was no Secret Service, FBI or any of the other alphabet law-enforcement agencies. If you decided to travel, you traveled at your own risk, and you can bet people traveled armed. When I was last at Williamsburg, Va., they had a room in one of the historical houses arranged as if a traveler had just arrived and unpacked. There on top of a dresser was a pistol.

A Nation in Crisis. I have to agree. We are constantly bombarded by the News Media about all the "crisis's" popping up. Everywhere you turn there is another problem and never do they have or mention a reasonable solution. The Democratic Left/Liberals feed of off this like a ravenous pack of wolves. Their idea of dealing with crisis is to throw more money at it and to do so they raise taxes. If that does not work they raise more taxes. I listen to Obama and his "change" donkeyshine!!!, never do I hear a solution that is not going to cost me more money, never do I hear a solution that is not going to cost me my freedom to make my own choices. It would be nice to hear a candidate state what a great country this is and how we are "Free" how good we have it here in America. Yes there are problems border security, rising gas prices, energy shortages, TAXES, big government, government waste and fraud. all can be cured, but we hear anything from our elected leaders about how. Except for lots and lots of finger pointing and playing the blame game. These problems can all be fixed, a good start would be to elect fiscally responsible people whom really believe in this country and not those whom "recently" have come to the conclusion that it is a great country.
Where else do you have the freedoms and choices we have today? Where else can you buy pretty much what you can afford or in some cases what you cannot afford? We have the best health care in the world. The freedom to go where and when we want. The freedom to keep and bear arms. The freedom to voice your opinions and beliefs, to protest, organize, speak out. But these Freedoms come at a cost, 64 years ago there was a great cost and it continues today. We must be vigilant in our own country. We must keep those that want to change our lifestyle at bay. We must always be vigilant.
It's why we really have the 2nd Amendment. An armed person is a citizen and free, an unarmed citizen is a peasant and a victim!!
